History of Magazines Part.2

Bonjour people. Welcome to this weeks blog post!

Today we will continue to cover the topic of fashion magazines as we began to in the previous blog. Fashion sense back in the day began to make a social standard as to creating classes. Fashion began to be a title and it was almost as if it was a competition on who had the nicest clothes and who could dress the best. It became a hot topic and something to give people to talk about in these times. After the first magazine 'Gentleman's Magazine' we know this led to the boom of fashion magazines overall. The french in the 17 and 18 century made that boom pop because self expression was ruling the side of nobility which was causing the eruption of fashion. People were drowning in fashion at party's showing off their most expensive and impressive items to the people. From this magazines grasped a better knowledge and realized that they had to acknowledge this and grasp the current styles to then illustrate clothing and new ideas. These things were viewed by the rich and poor, people from all over that place. They added current dressing trends from the upper class to paint what the modern clothes and styles were like, it built the aesthetic and style that was currently being used at the time.

Eventually fashion also emerged in England, which was both positive and negative. This began to arise problems in the religious realm. Nobility at the time was losing its importance at the time and more people are being businesses into fashion which was forming a middle class at the time. This was also building up higher classes and allowing people to grow their education and begin reading and using their abilities to read the magazines and understand them. Fashion at this time was also a bit confusing because they had holes in them during the beginning of industrialization but in the fashion realm people found this amazing and beautiful still tho. Fashion during this time was based on the reality of life at the time and showed lives current status and situation. It was still portrayed in a more beautiful scenery which made people love to like at and admire, it all goes back to again allowing people to escape their reality. During the industrialization period it was a very tough time for people to have joy or be uplifted but fashion magazines changed this for people and gave them something to look forward to. Eventually aristocracy began to fade and more people had job opportunities which then made the magazines more available to people as well as fashion itself.

Now comes to my favorite part in which women entered this amazing realm of fashion and had their chance to emerge and shine. Rich men were now forced to have their wives up to date fashionably and keep them in the loop of this. This gave people status and showed who had money and who didn't. This led to showing that wives were more important than their regular roles and positions and asserted that they were more than just an accessory. Magazines at the time were majorly run by men because they ultimately decided what looked better on women and what would be approves more. Even nowadays fashion in women still portray women image today and their part in society today. The magazines were a great distraction to the women's roles and jobs as fashion and clothing was based on women's work like threading and sowing. These things had a wide importance since things like sports were still run by men and women really had no other choice than to stick to their normal activities.

Now fast forward to the 90's and current time fashion and where we are at in todays fashion. Now with women things are different because they are making some type of income in the little that they can work in. On a legal scale they were become more free from their husbands and were gaining they're own income. The market strategy was finally shifting and men weren't the only ones in control. Now women had the chance to spent their own money on their own fashion and own the things that they wanted to own without restrain. Fashion was being directed to a different audience now and women had their own social prestige. From this arose famous people from magazines which added a long-lasting affect to people lives in modeling. These people were getting paid heavily and people were growing to love them and created their fame. Fashion shows arose from this as well which also led to even greater opportunities like actors, movies stars, and much more, they were more than famous just because of their fashion. This stared from a Vogue magazine from 1990 which people like Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Tatjana Patitz. This led to the following motifs of magazines and their main importance to fashion magazines. The magazines profited from these kinds of things and got their main source of income from these types of things. Eventually famous singers, actors, known people and more began to fill these from covers of these famous magazines and led with these kinds of ideas. This all led to the kinds of fashion magazines we have today and how fashion magazines are composed and sold to the public still today.
