Feature Writting Part 3

Welcome back!  In this weeks blog we will be discussing the final lead which is the Narrative Lead. This is a practice for the production of my magazine.  A narrative lead is known as a hook to grab the readers attention, it is usually done in a sentence, paragraph, or in a couple pages. Below I will do my narrative leave based off of the fact sheet below. Fact sheet: “ Someone called 18 people in the city last night. The caller identified himself as the president of Rutherford Ford, Inc., 2780 Doss Boulevard. He told each of the people that they had just won a new car from his dealership. Interviewed by reporters today, most of the people who received the calls said that at first they just couldn't believe it. And they were right. They couldn't. The person who called was a prankster, and Allen Rutherford, president of the dealership, says he has no idea who placed he calls, and that he's spending all his time today trying to explain the situation to those 18 people. Feature Writing Part 2

Welcome back guys to this weeks blog!  In this weeks blog post we will be discussing what a descriptive lead is. We are going to be practicing more about feature writings and how to do leads. Since we are talking about leads in this one we will be discussing descriptive leads and what they are. A descriptive lead starts by describing either a person, place, or things and is meant to set the setting for the story, and paints the picture to its readers. Below I will be creating my own lead based off of the fact sheet. Fact Sheet: “ Thomas J. Serle works for Parker Bros. Circus, which is in town this week. Performances are scheduled at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. every day through Sunday, beginning today. Serle, who maintains a home in Fort Lauderdale, is a laborer who helps care for the animals at the circus, including 10 elephants. During a conversation with a reporter, he said: "Some people look on work with a circus as a glamorous job. It ain't. But I been doing it all my life, and ...

Feature Writting

Hey guys, here we are again! In this weeks blog I will be talking about feature writing which has to do with the production of my blog. I will be explaining what feature writing is in this blog and giving my own example of writing my own lead. The first type of lead that I will be talking about is a twist lead. This type of lead is exactly what is sounds like, it’s known to set up the reader for a certain mood and then twists giving it a surprise at the end.  Below I will be doing my own attempt of a lead based off the fact sheet. Fact sheet:  “ The police in this municipality received a call at 3:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon. A woman shouted at the sergeant who answered the telephone. She said: "My son's been beaten. His teacher whipped him this afternoon, and he's all red where she paddled him. Can teachers do that? That's assault and battery, and I want her arrested." Two police officers were sent to the home. They questioned the boy, who is 9 years old. At his ...
